Final: Ricky Walden 10 - 8 Ronnie O'Sullivan
The Shanghai Masters, sponsored by the Chinese motor vehicle company Roewe, was a new tournament to the snooker calendar in 2007.
Last year’s tournament produced the first shock of the season when outsider Dominic Dale beat Ryan Day in the final to take the title and the £48,000 prize money.
This years tournament continued the trend of shock winners when Ricky Walden ranked world number 35 saw off world number 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan in an exciting 10-8 final. Ricky proved his ability in collecting his first ever ranked title and his biggest pay cheque yet of £52,000. O’Sullivan will be disappointed to have missed out on his chance of winning three consecutive titles.
